Evolution of Fleet Equipment and Technology  in Law Enforcement Vehicles

by

John Woronczuk

During his presentation, John will outline the technology roadmap that law enforcement vehicles are taking today in North America. He will also discuss the challenges with policing and vehicles and equipment installed within them

John Woronczuk has more than 30 years experience in various aspects of the communications industry ranging from product management, sales and marketing to corporate development. Having co-founded two successful startups balances the experiences and disciplines garnered from the larger corporate machines. He came up through the Terry Mathews family of companies beginning at Mitel Corporation, Trillium Telephones Systems, Elcombe Systems and Newbridge Networks (Alcatel). His Newbridge experience culminated in leading the due diligence and integration teams in their largest corporate acquisition ($480 M) of Stanford Telecom (an LMDS vendor). Off shore postings and Pac Rim marketing roles gave him the opportunity to harmonize the North American experience.

His first startup was an optical networking venture called edgeflow (renamed Meriton) acquired by XTera focused on wavelength add/drop multiplexing. The second startup was a fleet vehicle telematics venture called Netistix Technologies acquired by BSM focusing on WiFi based fleet management solutions delivered through a web service.

John recently decided to explore the public sector by joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as National Fleet Equipment Manager. Again dealing with technology but in a much different space from his previous industry sector experiences.

John graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (University) in Electrical Technology. He also graduated with a MBA from the Canadian School of Management (University of King’s College) focusing on International Relations.

He enjoys developing ‘go to market’ strategies, business case and market analysis, strategic planning, building teams and developing partnerships and channels. He also fiddles about with solar energy projects, classic car restoration and trying to find the perfect match between cigars and scotch.
